Prabowo Responds To Trump's Shooting, Affirms There Is No Place For Violence
JAKARTA - Defense Minister and Elected President Prabowo Subianto expressed concern over the shooting incident targeting US President for the 2017-2021 period Donald Trump in Pennsylvania last weekend.
Defense Minister Prabowo emphasized that there is no place for violence in democracy.
"I am deeply concerned about the assassination attempt during the presidential campaign of former president Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. There is no place for violence in the democratic political process and this must be condemned," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 17.
He also prayed for Trump to recover soon and improve after experiencing the incident.
"I wish former President Trump the best hope for a speedy recovery, and our thoughts are on the victims and their families during this difficult time," Prabowo continued.
Prabowo also hopes that the campaign stage in the United States, which is currently underway, can run safely, peacefully, orderly and smoothly.
"We hope that the US election campaign will continue in a peaceful and safe environment," said Defense Minister Prabowo.
US 45th President Donald Trump, who is currently running again in the presidential election, was shot in the right ear while campaigning in front of his supporters in Pennsylvania on July 14.

Shortly after the incident, a number of Secret Service members of the president's security forces immediately circled Trump and took him down from the podium leaving the scene. The FBI later announced the shooter was a young US national on behalf of Matthew Crooks.
The shooter was immediately shot dead at the scene by members of the US Secret Service.
In that incident, one resident died and two residents were injured.
Two days after the incident, the Republican Convention officially promoted Donald Trump as a presidential candidate to fight US President Joe Biden's incumbent.
Trump also announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as a vice presidential candidate accompanying him to run in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
