KAI Group Serves 218 Million Passengers In Semester I 2024, Up 22 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded the volume of KAI Group passengers in the first semester of 2024, which was 218,964,010 customers.

This figure increased 22 percent compared to the first semester of 2023 as many as 179,577,935 customers.

The details are 22,223,702 long-distance train customers. Then, 3,511,405 local train customers (managed by KAI), 179,101,318 KAI Commuter customers, 2,709,305 KAI airport customers, 8,685,648 Jabodebek LRT customers, and 2,665,710 airshed customers.

KAI VP Public Relations Anne Purba said the increase in passenger volume was supported by the implementation of a new Railway Travel Graphic (Gapeka) starting June 2023.

Anne said, in Gapeka 2023, KAI operated new trains, namely Argo Merbabu (Gambir-Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng pp), Argo Semeru (Gambir-Surabaya Gubeng pp), Pandalungan (Gambir-Jember pp), Manahan (Gambir-Solo Balapan pp), and the Banyubiru Local Train (Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng-Solo Balapan pp).

In addition, Anne said, in the first semester of 2023 there are still requirements related to COVID-19, where long-distance train passengers aged 18 years and over are required to have a booster vaccine, passengers aged 6 to 17 years are required to have a second vaccine. Local train passengers are required to have at least the first dose of vaccine.

The new mode of transportation, namelyctions and the Jabodebek LRT, was also inaugurated in the second half of 2023. The two modern mass transportation modes can be the mainstay of the community to transport as needed," he said in an official statement, Friday, July 12.

In terms of timeliness of departure or arrival of passenger trains, there has also been an increase in performance.

In Semester I 2024, the timeliness rate for passenger train departures reached 99.76 percent, an increase compared to the first semester of 2023, which was 99.57 percent.

The timeliness rate for passenger train arrivals in the first semester of 2024 reached 96.80 percent, an increase compared to the first semester of 2023, which was 94.26 percent.

Anne said that the improvement in the performance of train timeliness was achieved through improving the quality of overall operational performance, including maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.

Time coincidence is one of the advantages of traffic-free rail transportation, so passengers are in demand.

2. Serayu train (Pasar Senen-Purwokerto pp): 647,526 passengers

3. Sancaka Train (Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gubeng pp): 638,523 passengers

4. Putri Deli train (Medan-Tanjung Balai pp): 603,837 passengers

5. Kaligung train (Semarang Poncol-Cirebon Prujakan pp): 592,750 passengers.

The long-distance train departure station with the most passengers during the first semester of 2024 is:

1. Pasar Senen: 2,205,387 passengers

2. Gambir: 1,503,622 passengers

3. Yogyakarta: 1,397,831 passengers

4. Surabaya Gubeng: 877,199 passengers

5. Surabaya Pasarturi: 815,844 passengers
