Performing At Fuji Rock Festival, ALI Fulfills One Of The Bucket Lists

JAKARTA - ALI, an experimental band consisting of Arswandaru (bass, vocals), Absar Lebeh (guitar), and John Paul Patton (drums), will appear at the Fuji Rock Festival on July 28.

Arswandaru said that the Japanese music event was one of the festivals they had wanted from the start. The Fuji Rock Festival is expected to be the beginning of other major achievements in the future.

"The 'Fuji Rock Festival' is on our bucket list. It's said to be an achievement, of course, only this is not the last achievement, not yet, there are other festivals that may be bigger or more exciting in other countries," said Arswandaru when met in Gunawarman, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 11.

Daru's pride in appearing at the Fuji Rock Festival was not because of his capacity which was able to bring many spectators, he said the curation system was quite tight, so one of the reasons ALI was proud to be able to appear there.

"When we talk about Fuji Rock, the curation is tight, the venue is geographically very interesting, it adds to our new experience, to perform at different festivals," he said.

Furthermore, Daru also talked about ALI's preparation to appear in Japan. Unlike appearing in Indonesia, they must prepare many things without the help of the crew as well as in Indonesia.

"It's more technical. If we are here, we are assisted by many crews, during the tour outside we never bring crew. And I pay attention to the habit of outer bands too, really break it down from scratch, all sets up on my own," said the bassist.

"That's one of the lessons for us too, it turns out that the band and the tour that we imagine are beautiful but there is also a struggle (the struggle). And that doesn't reduce the excitement actually."
