Global Sales Of Mercedes-Benz Touch 600 Thousand Units, Sales Of Electrification Rise
JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz reported global sales for the second quarter of this year by successfully selling 600,100 vehicles consisting of passenger vehicles and vans.
Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG Marketing & Sales Britta Seeger, said this achievement could not be separated from the availability of various options ranging from ICE, Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), to hybrid so that this provides many choices for customers.
"Along with the continued shift towards electrification, Mercedes-Benz customers can choose a variety of high-tech ICE, BEV, or hybrid vehicles," Britta said on the manufacturer's official website, Friday, July 12.
The Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle earned sales of 496,700 units in the second quarter, up 7 percent compared to the previous quarter. Thanks to some of the updated products, the German manufacturer got a better increase.
For the BEV, this premium brand managed to obtain up to 45,800 units in this period amid the declining trend of electric vehicles in recent times. However, the worldwide PHEV segment has increased by 27 percent compared to last year.

Meanwhile, cars in sales of the Top-End segment or the most luxurious increased by 6 percent compared to the first quarter, but were below compared to last year.
Models like Mercedes-Benz S-Class managed to top the top in the Top-End segment across major markets. Manufacturers expect Top-End sales to increase significantly in the second half of the year driven by the further market launches of the new G-Class including G-Class electricity, several Mercedes-AMG models such as E-Class and the updated CLE and EQS derivatives.
The medium segment or Core rose 8 percent compared to the previous quarter with E-Class and GLC models maintaining their throne as the best-selling product.
China managed to become the country with the most Mercedes-Benz car sales with 172,600 units in the second quarter, followed by Europe with 157,500 units, and the United States (US) with 84,700 units.
Meanwhile, vans accounted for 103,400 in the second quarter globally but decreased 2 percent compared to the first quarter.
In the commercial van segment, manufacturers obtained 86,200 units and private vans totaled 17,200 units. Among these, the eVan series reached 5,200 units, an increase of 75 percent compared to the first quarter driven by the latest eSprinter sales.
