Android 15 Will Be More Friendly For Color Blind Users
JAKARTA - Android 15 is preparing to add intensity offsets to color correction settings. This feature allows color blind users to adjust the intensity of each color correction mode, providing more ways to customize how colors are displayed.
Currently, Android offers some fixed color correction modes to overcome deuteranomaly, protanomily, and tritanomanly.
Color correction settings can be found under Settings > Accessibility > Color and motion. Here, color blind users can activate one of the Android color correction modes, each of which compensates for various color blind levels.
Android 15 will expand the color correction setting by adding an intensity slider. This slider will have three values, namely low, moderate, and high, which change the intensity of the color balance change for each color correction mode.

This setting is not yet available on Android 15 Beta 3.1, but a number of users managed to activate it manually. The following Gallery shows how intensity offsets affect color balance changes under red-green and tritanomally blue-yellow deuteranomaly color correction modes.
Deuteranomaly Merah-Hijau Low Intensity
Deuteranomaly Merah-Hijau Moderate Intensity
Deuteranomaly Merah-Hijau High Intensity
Tritanomally Blue-Yellow Moderate Intensity
Tritanomally Blue-Yellow High Intensity
Everyone has different needs, thus adding more personalization to Android color correction settings can help color blind users who feel that the current options are not quite effective. The addition of this intensity slider can help compensate for various levels of deuteranomaly, protanomily, or tritanomily.
If you live with a color vision shortage, the possibility of this change on Android 15 will benefit you! This feature demonstrates Android's commitment to making technology more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
