Switzerland Expands EU Sanctions Against Russia
JAKARTA - Switzerland is expanding its sanctions against Russia by including additional actions recently taken by the European Union against Moscow over ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
Referring to the package of action adopted by the EU against Russia on June 24, the Swiss Ministry of Economy said it would impose sanctions in its jurisdiction on 69 individuals and 86 entities.
These sanctions primarily target business people, propagandists, members of the armed forces and courts, people in charge of deporting Ukrainian children and members of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), he said.
The new sanctioned entities include companies operating in Russia's defense industry and companies in the financial and trade sectors involved in avoiding sanctions, he added.

This means that more than 2,200 individuals and entities are now on the sanctions list, the ministry said.
"This is in line with the EU," added the statement.
The Swiss government said it had implemented a ban on advertising in the media Voice of Europe, RIA Novosti, Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta "because of Russia's continuous propaganda and disinformation campaign".
Unlike the EU, these media are not subject to broadcast bans in Switzerland, the ministry continued.
