Google Launches Live Feature For Gemini Operations In Background

JAKARTA Google has added the Live feature, two-way conversational capabilities, to Gemini. The feature that was exhibited at I/O 2024 has been seen in the Google app version 15.27 recently. Reporting from 9to5google, the string from this new feature alludes to the capabilities of background modes. The string also explains that, "( Gemini users can) continue live chats while using other applications or when the screen is locked." This is a very smart improvement because Gemini, or even Google Assistant, cannot work without an open user interface (UI). Users must remain in the application window while using this assistant and chatbot. Once Google launches Live into Gemini, users can give commands without opening the app or giving up a pop-up window. This new capability will make Gemini much superior to Google Assistant. Gemini Live will work like a phone call, where users can give commands during calls. Users can open other applications and ask about the application being open.

If users feel enough with the information they get, they can end the call by saying, "Stop." This big language model (LLM) will stop working automatically. Gemini Live is likely to be launched by the end of this year, but not for all users. The Live feature is only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers or other paid services related to Gemini.
