BMW Tests Latest Coupe Car, M1 Or I8 Successor?

JAKARTA - BMW will present the latest futuristic coupe car as evidenced by the catch of a spy camera showing an exotic design model being tested wrapped in camouflage.

Launching Autocar, Monday, July 8, the car looks like the i8 model that was injected dead in 2020. It is reported that this is one of the models that will carry a more modern Neue Classe design language.

The car design is very striking and has a combination of M1 with the previous i8. The front fascia is inspired by the Neue Classe concept with slim headlights and smaller kidney grips.

The front tends to be lower which is a hallmark of the coupe. The side profile looks more radical with the upper roof elongated and the back door is positioned well above the standard coupe.

Another highlight of this car is the absence of a door handle and displaying a small panel that is sensitive to touch on the B pillar. This concept also has LED lightbars and back diffusers while at the same time signaling the model is a sports car.

It is possible that this car will be powered by four electric motors. This is reinforced by the absence of a Kaliper brake component. This is also in line with the adoption of existing BMW electric vehicle tactics, such as i4 having electric drive in all of its doubles.

Details about this prototype battery are unknown, and it is uncertain whether the battery is installed on the floor like most EVs or positioned on the back.

BMW has revealed that six models will launch with the adoption of the Neue Classe design in 2027. The possibility of this model being tested is one of them.

Previously, the manufacturer had invested 16.1 million US dollars into Deepdrive, an electric motorcycle specialist based in Garching, Germany.

Deepdrive claims its driving units, both in wheels and conventional central driving', can be more cost-effective and energy than those in today's market, with a larger torque density.

In recent times, BMW has reportedly been developing its first high-performance EV model. It is likely that the model will be based on the Neue Classe concept and will enter production in the next few years.

On paper, the car will have a devastating power of up to 1,341 dk thanks to the quads embedded in it. The German manufacturer is working to present a version of the double electric motor for rear-wheel drive fans.
