World Environment Day, PT GNI Holds Real Environmental Clean Action In Lingkar Industri Village

JAKARTA - In order to celebrate World Environment Day 2024, PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) again shows its commitment to sustainability and environmental sustainability. On Saturday, July 6, the company, which is engaged in the nickel smelter industry, carried out a real action by holding environmental net activities in the company's ring village, precisely in Bungintimbe Village, East Petasia District, North Morowali involving all employees from various divisions.

In 2024, World Environment Day echoed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia has the theme Completion of the Climate Crisis with Innovation and Justice Principles. It is hoped that this theme will serve as a reminder in solving the issue of climate change through innovation and technology.

Representative of the North Morowali Regency Environment Agency, Ni Wayan Evi Yuniarti in saying the commemoration of World Environment Day 2024 is the right moment to remind all elements of society about environmental conservation.

"We from the North Morowali Environment Agency really appreciate the activities initiated by PT GNI, because this activity is an action as well as a campaign to the community to protect the environment and educate the public not to litter," said Ni Wayan.

Ni Wayan also expressed her hopes to PT GNI so that the company can continue to carry out similar actions in the future.

"We hope that every Environment Day, PT GNI can always carry out actions like this. Actions to clean up trash, as well as tree planting actions, to adapt climate change," he continued.

During the clean-up action, the participants managed to collect more than hundreds of garbage, which was then sorted into organic and inorganic waste. This waste sorting process not only helps reduce the volume of waste that will be disposed of to the Final Disposal Site (TPA), but also raises local public awareness of the importance of sorting waste to facilitate waste disposal and reprocessing and reducing environmental pollution due to hazardous compounds from waste waste.

Head of Corporate Communication of PT GNI Mellysa Tanoyo explained that this activity is one of the company's real commitments in environmental conservation. This activity is also a means to improve employee education and understanding regarding the importance of protecting the environment.
