CIA Director To Fly To Qatar For Ceasefire Efforts In Gaza

The discourse of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip also involves various parties, including the United States. Director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns is rumored to be coming to Doha, Qatar next week to follow the discussion of the exchange of hostages and the ceasefire.

According to ANTARA, the meeting will also be attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Head of Israel's Secret Intelligence Agency (Mossad) David Barnea and head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Agency Abbas Kamel, the report said on Saturday.

The report added that Israeli and US officials were optimistic rather than before that the latest discussions with the leaders of the Hamas Palestinian movement could reach an agreement.

"The main problem is Hamas' request for the US, Egypt and Qatar to make a written commitment that the second stage of negotiations from the agreement will be continued without time limit during the first phase of the agreement," the report said.

However, Israel believes that this issue can and must be resolved to proceed to detailed negotiations regarding the implementation of the agreement.

About 120 Israeli hostages are believed to have been detained by Hamas, including 40 people estimated dead.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said this week that its negotiators had received Hamas' response to a prospective deal that would guarantee the release of hostages in exchange for the ceasefire in Gaza.

Barnea visited Qatar on Friday to resume indirect talks with Hamas.
