Train Carriages Transport Hazardous Materials Burned After Slipping In North Dakota
JAKARTA - Several carriages carrying dangerous material caught fire after the train skidded in North Dakota, United States (US)
Foster County Emergency Management Director Andrew Kirking said his party received information about a railroad slip in the small town of Bordulac, on Friday, July 5 local time.
The train carries an anthidated ammonia, sulfur, and methanol, reported by CNN, Saturday, July 6.
Anhydrorate ammonia, a gas widely used as nitrogen-based fertilizer, can be very dangerous in high quantities, triggering explosions and causing dehydration and severe burns to humans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In a post on Facebook, the relevant authorities are monitoring the cleaning of the derailed railway line.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City, a rail operator, said the company responded to the incident comprehensively and coordinated with authorities.

The crew tried to bridge the gap in the swamp to extinguish the fire and provide heavy equipment to move the carriages.
"Our goal is to extinguish the fire in the next 12 to 18 hours," Kirking said.
The cause of the derailing of the train is still under investigation. The driver and conductor who were on the train managed to escape safely.
