The Second Largest Lake Dam In China Broken, Thousands Of Residents Evacuated
JAKARTA - Around 5,700 residents were relocated due to the breakdown of China's second-largest freshwater lake embankment. Rescue workers rushed to deal with the damage.
More than 2,300 rescue personnel are working to build a second line of defense against floodwaters after a leak on Friday, July 5, in Hunan province, China Central Television reported.
"No one was injured until Saturday, July 6 morning," the report said.
Footage from state media shows waves of water flowing through embankments passing through several overturned trucks. Settlement sank.
Heavy rains flushed parts of Hunan province earlier this week, causing the Miluo River in the Pingjiang region to overflow to reach its highest point in 70 years.

The local government responded by activating the maximum emergency response rate. Government media showed most of the cities that were submerged in water and stranded people were rescued by boat.
The water level in Lake Poyang in Jiangxi province is also closely monitored, the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources said.
