Will Launch In Indonesia, Volvo EX30 Is Again Constrained By Software Problems
JAKARTA - Volvo is again facing problems involving EX30 electric vehicles (EVs) due to software problems. A number of owners have handed their cars back to the manufacturer.
Reporting from Autocar, Wednesday, July 3, owners complained about problems on the screen that suddenly turned black and the steering wheel button did not respond when the vehicle was not charging and even the emergency braking feature could be unexpectedly active.
The owner also shared this issue online showing the damaged infotainment touch screen and displaying misinformation such as time and reach and failure on the ADAS system.
Thus, some of these problems make owners unable to use their vehicles which make them return the car to Volvo to carry out the refund process.
In response to this, Volvo said that they would make various efforts to deal with this problem so that EX30 owners could move the car more comfortably.
"We realize that this is not what they expect from their Volvo cars, and we are trying to fix them as quickly as possible by minimizing inconvenience for our customers," a manufacturer spokesman said.
The EX30 model has a high dependence on its software system that operates most of its main elements, ranging from headlights, rearlight mirrors, and temperature controllers that can be accessed through the central touch screen.
It also adds to the poor record for models that rolled out in the middle of last year globally. Last June, this compact SUV was affected by a recall due to software problems involving nearly 72,000 units.
Volvo EX30 suffered system damage on its center screen which caused its speedometer to automatically go directly into test mode when the vehicle was turned on.
Earlier in May, the car was also hit by a recall in Australia involving 1,255 units due to potential errors in the infotainment system. This of course can thwart when displaying important information that has the potential to increase the risk of injury or death in vehicle passengers and other road users.

Wanting To Enter Indonesia
This is not good news considering that this model will enter the Indonesian market in the near future. Volvo Cars Indonesia will bring EX30 to Indonesia in the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on 18-28 July.
"We will bring five units of display along with a new line-up that we will introduce at GIIAS later," said PR & Marketing Volvo Cars Indonesia Ratih Perdanakusuma, last June.
The presence of this model aims to bring full premium electric mobility to a wider audience, helping advance and accelerate the transition to full electrification needed by industry and society.
