Chairul Tanjung And Agus Lasmono Sudwikatmono Are Officially 'Taking Care' Of The Management Of Patimban Port

JAKARTA - The management of Patimban Port, which is located in Subang, West Java, is officially carried out by PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional (PT. PPI) under the Government Cooperation with Business Entity (KPBU) scheme.

This was marked by the signing of the KPBU Agreement by the Director-General of Sea Transportation, R. Agus H. Purnomo with the President Director of PT. Patimban International Port, Fuad Rizal, witnessed by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transportation, Djoko Sasono, at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 17.

"Today the operation of Patimban Port has entered a new phase marked by the signing of a KPBU agreement between the Directorate General of Transportation and the selected Port Business Entity (BUP), namely PT PPI", said Secretary-General Djoko Sasono in his remarks representing the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

After the Agreement becomes effective, Djoko continued, PT PPI will officially become the operator that will manage the Patimban Port and is expected to provide excellent service and be able to manage the port as efficiently as possible so that it can contribute significantly to reducing national logistics costs.

While waiting for the effective time of the port operation under the PPI scheme by PT PPI, the Ministry of Transportation has assigned PT Pelindo III to carry out the temporary operation of the Patimban Port.

So simultaneously with the signing of the KPBU agreement, a Management Contract Agreement on Temporary Operation of the Patimban Port was also signed by the Head of the Patimban Class II KSOP Office, Heri Purwanto with the General Manager of PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) Port of Patimban, Sandy Syahrizal Alam.

According to Djoko, this was done in order to accelerate the operation and continuity of Patimban port services to meet logistics needs effectively and efficiently, while waiting for the process of handing over the Patimban Port operations to BUP PT. PPI with the KPBU scheme is carried out.

"I hope that the Patimban Port KPBU Agreement and the Patimban Port Temporary Operation Management Contract can be carried out in good faith in accordance with applicable regulations so that Patimban port services can be carried out effectively and efficiently", he said.

He also hopes that the synergy and cooperation between the Government and partners who are committed to supporting the Government's vision in supporting Indonesia's economic recovery can continue to be improved.

Meanwhile, Director General of Sea Transportation R. Agus H. Purnomo explained that the selection of PT PPI as the operator of the Patimban Port under the KPBU scheme has gone through a series of procurement stages in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

The process was carried out through an auction mechanism so that the Patimban Consortium was selected (PT CTCorp Infrastruktur Indonesia - PT Indika Logistic & Support Services - PT U Connectivity Services - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya) which has formed a Port Business Entity (BUP) PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional as the BUP Implementing the KPBU Project as well as a Cooperation Partner for the Provision of Infrastructure for Patimban Port in West Java Province.

For information, PT CTCorp Infrastruktur is owned by Chairul Tanjung, the 9th richest person in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indika Logistic is owned by Agus Lasmono Sudwikatmono, the 69th richest man in the country.

The scope of the KPBU Agreement is the provision of the superstructure at Patimban Port for a container terminal capacity of 3.75 million TEUs and a vehicle terminal capacity of 600.000 CBUs with a cooperation period of 40 years.

"It is hoped that the operation of Patimban Port by PT. PPI can increase productivity, logistics efficiency, and national economic competitiveness, especially in the North Java corridor so that it can provide direct benefits to the community", said Director General Agus.

To note, Patimban International Port is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) which is the second largest port after Tanjung Priok Port and has a strategic role in economic growth in the West Java region and also nationally.

Currently, the construction of Patimban Port is entering Phase 1-2 (2021-2026) which includes the construction of a container terminal with a capacity of 3.75 million TEUs and a vehicle terminal with a total capacity of up to 600.000 CBUs.
