Jokowi Orders BPKP To Audit National Data Center Management Agencies

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) instructed the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to audit the governance of the National Data Center (PDN) after the occurrence of cyber ransomware attacks.

"Later we will audit, we will be asked to audit the governance of PDN," said Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, June 28, which was confiscated by Antara.

Yusuf has not been able to say how many agencies will be audited regarding this cyber attack.

However, he said that so far there had never been an audit of PDN's governance or finance. "Not yet, right (it will only be audited) because of this case," he added.

He admitted that he did not know how big the impact of this cyber attack on various government agencies was.

"I don't know the impact, wong has not been audited. We don't talk about it yet," said Yusuf Ateh.

He also did not mention how long the target time was until the entire audit process was complete. "As soon as possible, the soner the better (making it faster is getting better)," he said.

On Monday, June 24, the government through the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the Ministry of Communication and Information identified 211 agencies affected by the PDNS 2 cyber attack incident.

Then on Tuesday, June 25, 282 agencies were identified as affected by the PDNS 2 incident.

However, on Wednesday, June 26, it was recorded that 44 agencies were ready to recover data, while the rest were still in the process. Of all that, five agencies have served the community again after migrating data.

Minister of Communications and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi and Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Hinsa Siburian have explained to Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding cyber attacks on PDNS 2.

Budi Arie said there were no indications of data leakage due to cyberattack disturbances against PDNS 2 in Surabaya.

"Earlier, the results of the meeting with Commission I showed no indication and there was no evidence of data leakage," said Budi Arie briefly in an intercept interview after a working meeting with Commission I of the DPR RI at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 27 evening.

Budi Arie said efforts to restore PDNS 2 were still being carried out. Kominfo targets a full recovery of PDNS 2 to be completed by mid-August 2024.
