Meta Tests Screen Placement Freely On Quest Headset
JAKARTA Meta is testing the ability to move a free secar screen in the virtual reality headset (VR) Quest. This is a feature much awaited because Vision Pro can do it since its launch. When using Apple-made spatial computers, users can place application windows in various places in one room. Users can place application windows in various corners of the room, even if they are far apart. This is one feature that makes Vision Pro feel more sophisticated and better. Although Quest supports multitasking features, the experience hasn't felt as good as Vision Pro because of its planned layout side by side. The data miner on the X platform named Luna, reported by The Verge, found this new capability in the 67 version of the Meta Quest Public Test Channel. After finding the feature, the account also shows a demonstration video of its features. From the video shared, it can be seen that Quest users can create application windows in 2D views such as browsers, settings, and changing libraries. The selected position can be locked so that the screen will not move when the user moves.

Although it can be placed freely, the distance from the feature being tested is still limited. Users can only place the window around the default position. When the orientation or display is changed, the application screen will be re-placed in the default position. Unfortunately, this capability is still limited to three application windows. At least, users will get some other new features such as making the application screen flat or curved and lowering the brightness of its virtual environment.
