Kominfo Promises PDN Security In Cikarang Strong After Reflecting On National Data Center 2 Hacked

Deputy Minister of Communication and Information (Wamenkominfo) Nezar Patria ensured that the National Data Center (PDN) which is being built in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency will have a stronger cybersecurity architecture.

This, said Nezar, reflected on the disruption of the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 due to cyber attacks of ransomware.

"We increase the data security, this (PDNS 2 incident) is a lesson and evaluation. In cyberspace, everyone understands that everything about data security is a concern," said Nezar in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

Nezar said that since the beginning, PDN was built with a cybersecurity architecture using data center governance, which of course has world-class standards.

However, along with the development of technology, irresponsible parties also increasingly have a sophisticated mode of carrying out cyber attacks, including in this case developing the types of attacks.

In the case of PDNS 2, for example, the cyber attack received was Brain Cipher, a new ransomware derivative from Lockbit 3.0. Therefore, for PDN, the government has made the PDNS 2 incident to further strengthen its cyber security system.

Furthermore, Nezar emphasized that the construction of PDN was not delayed by the PDNS 2 incident and it was confirmed that it would be completed in 2024.

"Of course the PDN project continues, this cannot be called postponed or because of this case we should not use PDN anymore. I don't think so because this is a consequence of digital transformation that we are doing," said Nezar.

As of Tuesday 6 February, it is known that the Cikarang PDN has reached three progresses. The first progress is that the provision of materials provided both domestically and abroad has now reached 29.43 percent.

Then for the design process, it has now reached 73.53 percent. Finally, the installation service has now reached 33.15 percent progress.

PDN Cikarang was founded under the G-to-G financing scheme, with the assistance of the French Government with funding of 164,679,680 Euros or equivalent to Rp2.7 trillion.

The plan is for the Cikarang PDN, West Java to be prepared to be completed on the celebration of Indonesia's independence day on August 17, 2024 and will be inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo.
