Singapore International Foundation Launches Collaboration Platform With Climate Change Adaptation

JAKARTA Singapore International Foundation (SIF), together with the World Economic Forum, launched a regional platform to address the challenges of climate change. The platform was released on Wednesday, June 26. The platform, referred to as the Southeast Asia Partnership for Adaptation through Water (SEAPAW), is the first platform designed to focus on strengthening water resistance. This platform is believed to be able to deal with climate change. President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, was the guest of honor when SEPAW was launched. President Tharman said that this SIF and World Economic Forum collaboration platform would be the solution to water problems. The solution to water problems is already within reach. However, this solution requires a bolder partnership to encourage investment, both in new technology and solutions that have been proven and are economically viable," said President Tharman in a statement received by VOI.

President Tharman also added that, SAPAW utilizes the SIF regional network and the World Economic Forum expertise in public-private cooperation, and can help promote investment in water security for the benefit of the region and the world.

Meanwhile, Neo Game Huay as Managing Director of Natural and Climate Centers at the World Economic Forum said that SEAPAW is a climate strategy that can strengthen business resilience and ensure life and livelihoods. "If we can protect water resources, we will also be better able to reduce and recover from climate-related disasters. The World Economic Forum is pleased to partner with the Singapore International Foundation to strengthen regional efforts," he said. SEAW will be used to drive cross-border projects and accelerate adaptation funding through public-private-filantropy models. This platform will identify projects in various key areas of interest to drive climate resilience in Southeast Asia.
