Tesla Expands Supercharger Network To Other Car Manufacturers

JAKARTA - Tesla adds to the list of automakers who will soon gain access to its Supercharger network or adopt North American Charging Standards (NACS).

Citing from the Teslarati website, Tuesday, June 24, although Tesla has opened its Supercharger network for other electric vehicles such as Rivian and Ford earlier this year, the company plans to roll out this access in stages to more electric vehicles.

Tesla added the Mercedes-Benz brand to the list, along with other brands from General Motors, Volvo, and Polestar, based on posts on its official website.

"Throughout 2024 and 2025, our North American Supercharging network will be opened to more automakers. When automakers transition to NACS, electric vehicle drivers will gradually be able to access Superchargers using adapters provided by their automakers," wrote Tesla on its official website.

Tesla has not disclosed exactly when the Supercharger network will open for the mentioned brands, but it is reported that mass layoffs in the company that oversees the charging department have forced Tesla to postpone the plan.

The news that Mercedes-Benz will soon use Tesla's Supercharger network is nothing new, as this information has been sticking out since last year. As revealed by the Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG Management Board, Ola Kryptlenius.

"To speed up the shift to electric vehicles, we are dedicated to improving the entire EV experience for customers, including fast, convenient, and reliable charging solutions," he said, quoted from the official Mercedes-Benz website.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed that each driver will gain access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America through a charging service owned by Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes me Charge. Mercedes-Benz drivers will see Tesla Superchargers on maps in vehicles and apps, including availability and price status. They can access chargers smoothly and automatically pay for their charging sessions.

Superchargers will also be integrated in Navigation with Electric Intelligence, which calculates a convenient and time-efficient route, including charging stops.
