PDIP Confirms It Will Not Sue The Constitutional Court For The Sake Of Being Able To Duet Anies-Ahok In The Jakarta Pilkada
Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Eriko Sotarduga emphasized that his party would not sue the Constitutional Court (MK) in order to pair Anies Baswedan and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.
Currently, the duet between Anies and Ahok as candidates for Governor-Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta cannot be done without changing regulations.
This is because Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Pilkada does not want the former governor to run again as a candidate for deputy governor in the same province as he was once led. Meanwhile, Anies and Ahok have both served as governors of DKI Jakarta.
"So far, we are not happy with those who are suing because we strictly comply with the legal matter and we are consistent with it," said Eriko at the PDIP DPP Office, Tuesday, June 25.
However, Eriko assessed that the door for Anies and Ahok to pair up in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election was still open, although very small. This could happen if there were other parties who sued the Constitutional Court.
"I said it's not 0, but 0.0001 percent. For example, someone has sued the Constitutional Court again. Right, it could change again," said Eriko.
"But from the PDI-P, until now we have participated in a meeting in terms of regional elections, there is no (planned to sue the Constitutional Court). There has not been any until now," he continued.
Moreover, Eriko emphasized that PDIP has 8 candidates that can be promoted in the Jakarta Pilkada and is not only fixated on 1 candidate pair.
"The DPD has the task of capturing, collecting and giving to the DPP. The DPP's task is to screen and propose to the general chairman to decide in the DPP meeting," he said.
