There Are Five Acting Regional Heads Who Resign Because They Are Advancing For The 2024 Pilkada
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said there were five regional heads (pj) who resigned from their positions because they advanced in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.
"I forgot the names, but there are already five pj. regional heads who have resigned," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 24.
According to him, the acting regional heads who have resigned from now on want to have a more free time to build communication and gather support from political parties.
In fact, he said, the deadline for submitting resignations was until July 17, 2024.
On the other hand, Tito informed at the provincial level that one person had resigned, namely Lalu Gita Ariadi, the Regional Secretary of West Nusa Tenggara since 2019.
On September 19, 2023, he was appointed Acting Governor of West Nusa Tenggara.
"There is only one provincial level, he (Then Gita)," he said.
There are four regional heads at the district/city level who have resigned, one of whom is Acting Mayor of Palembang Ratu Dewa.
"The number of resigning officials will be known on Wednesday (17/7)," said Tito.

Previously, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian issued a circular letter on May 16, 2024 regarding the consequences for the pj. regional heads who want to take part in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.
In the letter, Tito emphasized that they must resign as state civil servants (ASN) no later than 40 days before registration of candidate pairs.
The registration of the candidate pair for regional head will be opened by the KPU on 27'29 August 2024 and the determination of the candidate pair will be carried out on 22 September 2024.
Tito also reiterated this when collecting regional head officials, both governors and regents/mayors, in the context of facilitating and coordinating support for the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada virtually on Thursday (20/6).
"Those who want to join the regional head election, I have sent a letter on May 16, 2024, as explained so that colleagues provide information attaching a letter of resignation to the Minister of Home Affairs 40 days before the date of registration of candidates," Tito said, quoted by the Ministry of Home Affairs' official statement.
If they do not resign until the specified time limit, but take part in the regional elections, the Minister of Home Affairs will dismiss him.
Tito left the decision to the pj. regional heads who are interested in advancing the contestation. There are two choices, resigning or being dismissed.
"So, just choose to want it to be positive in the eyes of the public and electability will increase because it is unfair compared to the issue that came out of person A, who was the candidate who was dismissed because he did not report," said the former National Police Chief.
