Jakarta City 497th Anniversary Ceremony, Heru Budi: The Last Birthday Celebration Has The Status Of The Capital City

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a ceremony to commemorate the 497th anniversary of the City of Jakarta in the National Monument (Monas) area. Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono acted as inspector of ceremonies.

Heru and the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government wore beskap, while the woman ate Betawi's typical kebaya. Several other SKPD ranks wore daily official clothing (PDH). There are also typical Betawi ornaments that decorate the ceremonial area at Monas.

In his remarks, Heru reminded that today is the last anniversary of Jakarta by holding the status of the State Capital. Because, in the future, the status of the capital city will officially move to the archipelago, East Kalimantan.

"This year is the celebration of Jakarta's last birthday with the status of the nation's capital," said Heru, Saturday, June 22.

However, Heru emphasized that Jakarta's charm as a metropolitan city will not be erased even though it is no longer the capital city. "Jakarta will accelerate its steps. Jakarta will continue to push fruit into a global city and a national economic center," he said.

According to Heru, now is an opportunity for Jakarta to improve, starting from improving infrastructure to a habitable city and the quality of life of its citizens. In realizing this, Heru acknowledged, it is not easy and challenging.

"However, I believe that with persistence and synergy with elements of society, this city can stand with other developed cities in the world," explained Heru.

In his speech, Heru also mentioned the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada). Where, Jakarta will carry out the election contestation for the Governor and Deputy Governor for the period 2024-2029.

"I invite all Jakarta residents to exercise their voting rights and keep the situation conducive," he said.

For information, the celebration of the 497th Anniversary of Jakarta carries the theme "Jakarta Global City with Million Charms". This series of celebrations will start from May 19 to July 2024.

The peak event commemorating the 497th Anniversary of Jakarta titled "Malam Jaya Raya" was held in the National Monument (Monas) area on June 22, 2024. There were also various other events that were held before and after the peak event.
