KPU: Security Is An Obstacle In Following Up On The Constitutional Court's Decision For PSU
JAKARTA - KPU member Idham Holik revealed that the security factor was an obstacle in following up on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) on the dispute over General Election Results (PHPU) in the 2024 legislative election.
"Technical problems are only due to the consideration of security factors," said Idham, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 21.
He explained that the re-calculation in several places from what was originally carried out at the Regency/City KPU Office was transferred to the Provincial KPU office.
"That's because of security considerations where the KPU in the regions gets advice, it should be transferred to the provincial KPU office," he said.
"So that finally the locus (special location) or the place for the ballot was held at the provincial KPU office," he continued.
This security factor is the wrong focus based on the experience of simultaneous elections which took place on February 14, 2024.
One example of security constraints, explained Idham, was that his party experienced it, where on Wednesday (19/6) the Lahat Regency Police, South Sumatra sent a letter to the Lahat Regency KPU and explained that the situation was not conducive for the recount of ballots.

"The letter material to the Lahat Regency KPU was explained because the security situation at the time of calculating the 2024 election ballots which took place at the Lahat Regency KPU Office, the results of the plenary meeting in the Lahat KPU room, stated that the situation was not conducive," said Idham.
"And there must be a postponement of the calculation and transfer of the count location from the Lahat KPU Office to the South Sumatra KPU office," he explained.
For information, all follow-up actions of the KPU on the Constitutional Court's Decision are contained in the Decree of the Indonesian KPU Number 767 concerning Stages and Schedules for Recalculation of Post-MK Vote Letters; Indonesian KPU Decree Number 768 concerning Post-MK Re-Decision Voting Stages and Schedules; and KPU Decree Number 769 concerning Stages and Re-voting Schedules and Calculations of Post-MK Vote Letters.
In the Decree, the KPU set June 22, June 29, and July 13 as a re-voting schedule. As well as June 19, June 26, and July 6 as a schedule for recounting ballots.
