West Bangka Police Failed To Smuggle 4 Tons Of Illegal Tin In Tanjungkalian
BANGKA - West Bangka Resort Police, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, thwarted an attempt to smuggle four tons of illegal tin beams and ore at Tanjungkalian Port, Mentok."The arrest of a truck loaded with tin ore and lead beams without this document was carried out by personnel today at around 06.00 WIB, when personnel carried out routine raids at Tanjungkalian Port," said West Bangka Police Chief AKBP Ade Zamrah in Mentok, Antara, Thursday, June 20.When carrying out surveillance and inspection of various transportation vehicles that will cross through the port to Sumatra Island, officers obtained a truck loaded with tin sand and lead beams with documents.Furthermore, officers carried out initial interrogation of the driver with the initials JM and he admitted that he did not have valid legality documents to carry the tin. The perpetrator also admitted that he had twice brought similar illegal goods by manipulating the ship's ticket manifest with the excuse of carrying fruits or salted fish."T tin weight in the form of ore and blocks that are suspected to be smuggled weighing approximately four tons," he said.Currently, the officers are still securing the perpetrators, while the truck and cargo are already at the West Bangka Police Headquarters.The police chief said that the failure of the smuggling attempt was due to information provided by residents who said that there would be tin delivery activities outside the area through Tanjungkalian Port, Mentok.
"We are still conducting further investigations, including who sent it and where it will be taken", he said.
