Men's Lewotobi Mountain Eruption Tonight, Volcanic Ash Colon Capai 800 Meters

JAKARTA - Volcanic ash clouds as high as approximately 800 meters emerged due to the eruption activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

"The eruption occurred tonight at 22:26 WITA," said Gunung Observation Post Officer Herman Yosef in a report received by Antara, Wednesday, June 19.

The volcanic ash cloud looks gray with thick intensity leading west.

The eruption was recorded through a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 47.3 millimeters and a duration of 304 seconds.

Mount Lewotobi, which has a height of 1,584 meters above sea level, is a twin volcano located in the southeast of Flores Island.

The mountain consists of two peaks, namely Mount Lewotobi Male and Mount Lewotobi Woman.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) monitors visually and instrumentally the Mount from the observation post located in Pululura Village, Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Mount Lewotobi Men are currently on Alert or level III status. The public is advised not to carry out any activities within a three-kilometer radius of the eruption center and sectoral four kilometers in the north-northeast and five kilometers in the northeast sector.
