Julian Naglesmann: Hungary Is More Stressed Than Us
JAKARTA - In the Euro 2024 Group A match, the host Germany will face Hungary in Stuttgart on Wednesday 19 June with an elimination pressure that lurks their opponents. This was said by Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann on Tuesday, June 18.
Germany started the tournament in a spectacular style after destroying Scotland 5-1 on Friday, June 14, while Hungary lost 1-3 to Switzerland in their own opener on Saturday 15 July.
Germany scored three goals in the dominant first half to secure victory.
"I put Scotland and Hungary at a very similar level," Nagelsmann told a news conference. "It depends on how we play tomorrow. Hungary is a little more depressed than us after the first game."
"I think they should be a little more aggressive than against Switzerland as they have the potential to be eliminated from the tournament," Nagelsmann said.
Germany leads Group A with three points, ahead on goal difference over Switzerland, while Hungary and Scotland have yet to collect points. Victory over Hungary could see them finish in the top two and place in the knockout round.
"We have analyzed Hungary and have clear ideas about how we will play. It's about winning tomorrow's game. We saw their first game against Switzerland where it was a game from two rounds. Hungary deserved more than they got in the end," Nagelsmann said.

"In qualifying, Hungary is the second best team in creating or converting chances from set pieces. They play a good transition game. They have a strong striker in the air. They play with a precise cross. They are very dangerous," he said.
Nagelsmann said Hungary's performance would also depend on how Germany faces this game, just as it did against Scotland.
"After the match against Scotland, I said it depends on us, how we play. Scotland is impressed in the first 20 minutes by the way we play. This is related to the way we play," he said.
