Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II 1990 Sold For IDR 5.4 Billion, What's Special?
JAKARTA - The iconic and rare, it is only natural that the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II 1990 has just sold for 328,000 US dollars (equivalent to Rp5.4 billion) on the online tender site Bring a Trailer (BaT).
From the information on the auction house, quoted June 19, this car is the number #211 of only 502 Evolution II units ever made, and was sent from new to Switzerland and then transferred to France in 2018. Furthermore, this car was sold on the Bring a Trailer site in September 2020 and eventually imported to the United States.
This car runway is a 2.5-liter cosworth inline-four engine combined with a manual transmission of five dogleg accelerations. The exterior body looks dashing in a Blue Black Metallic color, refined with an Anthracite leather-coated interior.
For features, this car is spoiled with AMG Power Pack, differential limited-slips, 17-inch self-leveling suspension, and 17-inch Evo II rims. Not to forget the sunrooft, rear wing, heating front seat, and AC. With an odometer recorded at 95,000 kilometers.

Mercedes-Benz presented 190E Evolution as a counterpart to the BMW M3 Sport Evolution in 1989. Evolution II version then followed a year later in 1990. Evolution II offers an increase in engine power and a more aggressive aerodynamic packages, including muscular fender flares, splitter fronts, rear window spoilers, and adjustable rear wing.
Evolution II production is limited to only 502 units to meet the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft homologation. All units except the last two units were painted with the Blue Black Metallic color, including those auctioned.
For the exterior, the car is also equipped with electrical sunscreen, asymmetric mirrors, antennas on the roof, and polished grip frames. The engine hood and right door were reported to have been repainted by the previous owner.
Evolution II has a lower ground clearance, a wider track, and a larger brake compared to the 2.5-16 standard. The adjustable self-leveling suspension comes as factory built-in, while the braking uses the disc brakes ventilating in all four wheels with ABS.
The interior is dominated by Anthracite colors, ranging from the electric and heating recaro front seat, to the dashboard, door panel, and back seat. Zebrano wood shells decorate the center console, and are equipped with air conditioning, power windows, outdoor temperature gauges, and digital clocks.
