Democrats Call The Political Parties Of The Forward Indonesia Coalition Agree To Carry Ridwan Kamil In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The Democrat Party has confirmed that it will not support Anies Baswedan in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, even though it is discussed a duet with Joko Widodo's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep.

The reason is, the Democrats said that the political parties that are members of the advanced Indonesian Coalition (KIM) have agreed on the name of the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil to be promoted as a candidate for governor of Jakarta 2024.

"Until now, only one name has strengthened as a Jakarta cagub in KIM, only Kang Emil," said Deputy of Bappilu DPP of the Democratic Party, Kamhar Lakumani, to reporters, Friday, June 14.

Kamhar stated that the Democratic Party is committed to continuing to be with KIM in regional head elections throughout Indonesia, including in the Jakarta Pilkada.

"We are endeavoring as many linesarly as possible in the Indonesian Coalition to advance, especially for areas that become national political storefronts and barometers such as the Jakarta regional elections," he said.

Regarding the figure of Ridwan Kamil's companion, Kamhar said there was no agreement. However, he said, the Democratic Party had prepared a number of names submitted to KIM.

"There are Octavia Jayabaya, a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Regent of Lebak for 2 periods. Mujiono, a member of the DKI DPRD who was elected for the 4th period who is also the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Democratic Party DPD and Ali Muhammad Suharli, a member of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD for 2 periods," he said.
