The Latest Generation Mini Cooper Now Presents Five Doors, Extensive Cabin Space

JAKARTA - The latest generation Mini Cooper was launched at the IAA Mobility Show in Germany in September last year in a three-door style. Now, the manufacturer has also released a five-door version that prioritizes the practicality side.

Launching the BMW Group page, Thursday, June 13, the latest generation of five-door Cooper has a length of 4,036 mm, a width of 1,744 mm, and a height of 1,464 mm. Compared to the three doors, this version has a wheelbase of 72 mm wider and a body of 172 mm longer.

What distinguishes it from the three doors is the B-pillar. To accommodate additional doors, Mini added 2.8 inches at Cooper's wheelbase and stretched the body nearly 7 inches.

The space for the passengers in the back seat was not mentioned, but Mini informed that there was cargo room up to 32.6 cubic feet (923 liters) with the back seat folded, which was bigger than the three doors which were only 28.2 cubic feet (798 liters).

Regarding the design, the five-door version has many similarities with the three-door version. The front light looks wider with two horizontal lines at the top and under the lights.

Also on the back changed, Mini pinned the latest back light which was smaller and formed a triangle. This is clearly different when compared to its predecessor who used a large oval light.

The British manufacturer also revealed that the interior looks simpler with a circular screen measuring 9.4 inches in the middle of a dashboard that has become a characteristic of Mini which functions as an infotainment and instrument.

The midscreen on the dashboard has been operated with Mini Operating System 9, which was developed by the BMW Group and is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software.

Unlike the three doors, the five-door version of Cooper is only available in the internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrain. In variant C has a 3-cylinder engine capable of blowing 156 dk of power and 230 Nm of torque, so it can run from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds with a maximum speed of 225 km/hour.

The next type is S with a 4-cylinder engine with a magnitude of 204 dk and a 300 Nm torque, which is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/hour in 6.8 seconds with a maximum speed of 242 km/hour.

Unfortunately, Mini has not revealed when the sales period and the price of the hatchback-style car will be.
