Mercedes-Benz Promises To Row The Latest Car At GIIAS 2024, Including The Return Of Smart Brands To Indonesia

JAKARTA - In the upcoming 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), Mercedes-Benz revealed that it will bring a number of its products to ICE BSD, Tangerang, including the launch of the latest model.

Sales and Marketing Director of PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia (MBDI) Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, said MBDI will bring the three latest model lines, namely the latest E-Class and two AMG vehicles, C 63 S E and GLC 43 Coupe.

"For the product itself, of course there is something that the market has been waiting for, namely the all-new E-Class W214. Then there are two models from AMG, such as C 63 S E which became the first model to adopt F1 and GLC 43 Coupe technology," said Kariyanto in his explanation at Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 12.

However, this German manufacturer also brought another surprise, namely turning the 'Smart' brand to the Indonesian market. This brand also had time to decorate the country's market before deciding to leave Indonesia a few years ago.

Another interesting thing is that we will re-introduce the 'Smart' brand to Indonesia. We will bring the Smart Brabus. So see you at the GIIAS event later," added Kariyanto.

The sixth generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class was introduced globally in 2023, having a more classy and luxurious design. Not only that, but the sedan is also a more sophisticated technology support than the previous model.

In the outside market, this car is offered with two trims, namely E 350 and E 450. The E 350 variant is equipped with a turbocharged 4-liter engine with a small millid-hybrid-tech electric motor, which can power 255 dk and 399 Nm of torque and is available for an additional 20 dk.

For E 450, the performance offered is much more impressive. With a Turbo I6 engine accompanied by a mild-hybrid system, the power can reach 375 dk and a 500 Nm torque, and also provide an additional 20 dk.

From AMG products, C 63 S E is one of the models that has performance and wild power. This premium brand offers 20-inch tempa rims that cover the timesper brakes as well as a more aggressive style than the back diffuser and sharp side skirt. The manufacturer claims the highest speed can increase when this package is selected.

In terms of performance, Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance is equipped with a 2.0 liter engine combined with an electric motor measuring 201 dk so that it produces up to 671 dk of power and a peak torque of 1,020 Nm, so that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in 3.3 seconds.

To satisfy its customers, Mercedes-AMG provides a number of features such as AMG Ride Control on suspensions, and 4 Matic+ all-wheel drives with Drift Mode.

Other products such as AMG GLC 43 Coupe also have a sporty design, but do not eliminate the utility and practicality side of this series.

In terms of design, this car is not much different from the SUV version that was launched some time ago. In fact, the difference lies in the more sloping back, in contrast to the utility version that has a brain shape.

In terms of performance, this car is equipped with an AMG 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that joins electric motors and electric turbochargers, resulting in a total power of up to 421 dk and a peak torque of 500 Nm.

This wild performance is also optimized with a rear wheel drive system as well as all wheels in collaboration with AMG Speedshift MCT 9G.

Meanwhile, brand Smart currently markets two products sold globally from #1 to #3. Both are purely mainstay EV products of this brand which were introduced in 2022.

Smart #1 has electric motors measuring 268 dk and 422 dk for the Brabus version. Meanwhile, the battery carries a nickel-cobalt-manganese 66 kWh which is capable of reaching a distance of 420-440 km in one charge.

Meanwhile, Smart #3 carries the same electric and battery motorbike as its brother. Regarding the security side, this EV crossover obtained five stars from the Euro NCAP test.
