24 Thousand Dancers Participate In Enlivening The South Sulawesi Dance Festival

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Dance Festival is back in 2024. The event, which was held by the South Sulawesi Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), was reportedly attended by around 24 thousand dancers.

Tens of thousands of dancers took turns appearing in the "South Sulawesi in Harmony" themed activity in the Lego-Lego Center Point of Indonesia (CPI) Tourism Area, Makassar, from 8 to 15 June 2024

Head of the South Sulawesi Culture and Tourism Office Muhammad Arafah in Makassar, Sunday, said that every day there will be four regions that appear. Two MURI record targets will be recorded.

"Sulsel has many types of typical dances spread across districts and cities. And has many studios of around 1,000 studios with around 30 thousand members," said Arafah as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, this show is expected to generate economic impacts for South Sulawesi. Especially with the presence of 24,000 dancers from 24 districts and cities to participate.

Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Zudan Arif Fakrulloh expressed his special appreciation to the Head of the Tourism and Culture Office and the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi who previously initiated this event.

He said the theme raised was South Sulawesi dancing in harmony. It means culture as a unifying. Culture knows no political affiliation, ethnicity, and differences in the nation. Everyone can accept it.

"So let's enjoy, enjoy CPI with South Sulawesi Dancing, South Sulawesi in harmony. Let's enjoy until June 15. Invite family, we unite in culture in the South Sulawesi dance event," he said.

Zudan expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary support of BUMN, BUMD, regents and mayors. Likewise, the principal who sent his students to this event.

A friendly country in Japan presents the traditional performance of South Sulawesi, Marendeng Marampang, which is displayed by dancers studying in South Sulawesi. Likewise, the dance of representatives from East Kalimantan.

With successive dance steps and a united heart, the South Sulawesi Festival has opened a new window for South Sulawesi culture.
