China Uses AI To Check Cheating In Higher Education Entrance Test

China's state media reported that local authorities used artificial intelligence (AI) to examine fraud in college admission tests across China followed by 13.42 million students. The results of the college entrance test, known locally as gaokao, will determine student admissions at the university which ultimately determines the future of Chinese students. The southern Guangdong provincial authority - quoted from Anadolu - has implemented AI to examine students who cheat in the exam. Students in the province had to go through two checks using detectors and security machine gates. The measures are designed to detect electronic devices. Authorities installed a smart inspection system to monitor checkpoints in the province, as well as radio signal protective equipment to prevent fraud.Authorities also imposed measures to stop noise from traffic and construction sites to avoid interference with students. While in the capital Beijing, there are at least 105 test centers that have been established for prospective students, while at least seven provinces have made changes to the test pattern.China's Ministry of Education said the number of students taking tests this year was the highest record since matriculation resumed in 1977.This year, there are an additional 510.000 students taking the exam compared to last year's 12.91 million students and the largest number in the world for students taking college entrance tests.Prospective students write answers in three main subjects, including Chinese, math, and foreign languages.
Students can also choose tests between physics and history lessons. They are also required to choose ideological and political subjects, geography, chemistry, and biology. There are special settings for about 11,000 students with special needs, including banknotes.
