1.2 Million Hajj Pilgrims Have Arrived In Saudi Arabia, Wukuf Arafah Set For June 15

JAKARTA - About 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia until Thursday, while local authorities have set a peak date for the pilgrimage, Wukuf in Arafah.

Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court ruled 1 Dzulhijjah 1445 H falls on Friday, after the new crescent moon was successfully observed on Thursday afternoon local time.

With that, wukuf in Arafah will be held on Saturday, the ninth day of Dzulhijjah 1445 H, which coincides with June 15, 2024, and Eid al-Adha will fall the following day, the Saudi Arabian Supreme Court said, quoted from SPA 7 June.

Meanwhile, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah announced that around 1.2 million pilgrims from around the world had arrived and completed entry and good health procedures.

"The kingdom, since its establishment, has been honored to serve the pilgrims and pilgrims, because wise leaders attach great importance to providing the highest level of care for the pilgrims and facilitating their arrival to the two holy mosques and holy places, to perform worship easily," explained Dr. Al-Rabiah.

He further explained that his party emphasized the need for pilgrims to comply with the regulations and instructions issued, to ensure a smooth and satisfying Hajj experience for everyone.

Minister Al-Rabiah reaffirmed his commitment to ensure this year's Hajj season is successful. "This dedication is in perfect harmony with the goals of the 2030 Kingdom Vision," he said.

Minister Al-Rabiah highlighted the ministry's proactive approach to facilitating the experience of Hajj for pilgrims from around the world.

"Since the end of the hajj season last year, other leaders and I in this sector have started a historic mission, visited 11 countries and held 24 official meetings," he said.

It said the direct discussion was aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by pilgrims from various countries as well as exploring opportunities to improve services.

Meanwhile, regarding infrastructure, Minister Al-Rabiah highlighted the improvement of infrastructure designed to improve the experience of pilgrims.

Eleven prototype buildings, which house 37,000 worshipers, were completed within nine months. Next, the area around Al-Mashar Al-Haram was developed through the inauguration of a track project designed to facilitate movement easily and comfortably. There is also the largest air conditioning and purification station in the world at the Grand Mosque.

Meanwhile, in the transportation sector, this Hajj season will witness the operation of the Al-Mashaer train with a capacity of 72,000 passengers per hour, which contributes to the transportation of more than 350,000 worshipers between holy places.
