Police Investigate Dozens Of People Poisoned By PKK Arisan Food In Semarang

Police officers are investigating cases of suspected poisoning experienced by dozens of adults and children after eating a PKK meeting in the Jomblang area, Semarang City, Central Java.

Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar said about 20 people had to be treated in a number of hospitals and health centers due to the poisoning.

The incident began when residents participated in the PKK social gathering at a resident's house in RT 06/RW 10, Jomblang Village, Candisari District, Semarang City, on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

"The next day, the participants of the social gathering and their children who came experienced diarrhea and nausea," he said.

According to Irwan, there are about 20 people who have to be hospitalized and their condition has improved.

From the information obtained, continued Irwan, the social gathering was served with brown banana and fried noodles snacks.

The police have asked for information from residents who hosted the PKK social gathering activity.

Meanwhile, the Head of PKK RT 06/RW 10, Jomblang Village, Candisari District, Semarang City, Ani Sulistyowati said the residents who ate the arisan dish were around 85 people.

"But about 20 people are hospitalized, adults and children," he said.

The source of the cause of the mass poisoning is thought to have come from fried noodles because all the victims ate the food.
