Antonio Rudiger Hopes To Bring Real Madrid Champion Mental To The German National Team At Euro 2024
JAKARTA - Germany will face pressure as host at Euro 2024, but Antonio Rudiger said his team could benefit from playing at home.
Rudiger wants to take advantage of his experience with Real Madrid for Germany's gain at Euro 2024, by seeking "insting killer" for Julian Nagelsmann's team.
The German duo, Toni Kroos and Rudiger, helped Madrid win their 15th Champions League title by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final last week. This victory adds to Los Blancos' success in winning the LaLiga title this season under veteran coach Carlo Ancelotti.
With Germany's opening match at Euro 2024 against Scotland in less than two weeks, Rudiger hopes to integrate his club's business into the Nagelsmann national team.
"These are two different things," Rudiger said on Wednesday, June 5, referring to the differences between Germany and Madrid. "Here we have a very good system that fits our game, but what we can take from Madrid is the killer's instincts."
"Our last game against Ukraine was very good. It's been a long time since I've seen such a good 0-0 result from us, but what's lacking is goals and that's what we can learn from Madrid," he explained.
Germany appeared less effective in a draw against Ukraine on Monday, demonstrating similar performance to their exit from the 2018 World Cup group stage and four years later.

They will face Greece on Friday 7 June in their final friendly before the European Championships, where they will meet Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A.
"Anticipation in our country is huge," added Rudiger. "On Friday we had an important final test. This is important for our confidence. It is important to cheer up our fans in this final test.
"We have to be humble. We all know what happened in previous tournaments. The road to get here is full of ups and downs. What's important is to play very well in the first game and then see what happens in the rest of the tournament," said Rudiger.
As for Rudiger's role in the German national team, Nagelsmann wants that centre-back to guide his team during the tournament. "Julian said that I should be a leader in my role," concluded Rudiger.
