Harun Masiku Is Still Being Chased, KPK: Looking For Fugitives Is Not As Easy As Imagined

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the search for fugitives, including former PDIP legislative candidate Harun Masiku, was not that easy. Because, they often get information but when traced it turns out that the results were nil.

This was conveyed by the Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, when asked about the whereabouts of Harun Masiku. He said, even though it was known where but his institution would not simply convey it to the public.

"Technically, of course, the existence is where we cannot convey it because this is part of looking for people," Ali told reporters quoted on Wednesday, June 5.

"Once again looking for people is not as easy as we imagined even though the KPK has experience," he continued.

Ali only ensured that Harun would definitely be pursued and must be held accountable for the bribery he gave. "This is an obligation for us, for the KPK to resolve the arrears in the case," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK claimed to have received new information that said there were parties who were hiding the fugitive, former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku. They have summoned three witnesses and plan to summon PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto next week.

Meanwhile, Harun is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This gift was given so that he could sit as a member of the DPR through interim shifts (PAW).

He has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30, 2023.
