Rumors Of Toyota Celica's Return Are Increasingly Real, Possibility Of Launching In Early 2025

JAKARTA - In recent years, Toyota has also developed a number of high-performance cars through the Gazoo Racing (GR) division. Starting from the presence of GR Supra and GR86 to GR Corolla which were later loved by high-performance car fans.

Toyota doesn't seem to stop presenting another sporty model. Toyota is rumored to be raising a name like Celica to its latest model and it looks like the news has the potential to come true.

Quoted from the Best Car confiscated by Carscoops, Tuesday, June 4, the Celica will be powered by an ICE engine with the latest 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged combined with the GR-Four AWD system developed by Toyota inspired by GR Yaris and GR Corolla.

The report also claims that the development of the latest Celica engine has been completed. Although the information is still limited, the publication speculates that the power this model produces reaches 400 dk.

The engine configuration and driving of all wheels reminds the Celica GT-Four which also brought Toyota to success in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in the 1990s. However, it is estimated that this model will be presented more luxuriously in its cabin.

Most likely the model will retain the low-slung silhouette of the previous generation. Another interesting thing, the report says that the latest Celica will debut in early January, to be precise at Tokyo Auto Salon 2025.

Presented since 1970, the model Celica has been loved by many automotive enthusiasts thanks to its impressive design and performance.

So loved, lovers and automotive fans from various circles felt lost when this car ended its production period in 2006.

At the end of 2023, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda signaled the return of Celica after being discontinued for nearly two decades. However, the grandson of manufacturer Kiichiro Toyoda did not want to reveal further details about the car.

Toyota Celica has shown its existence in the automotive world for seven generations. The model has also won several prestigious awards, such as the Trend Import Car of the Year 1976, Car and Drive Ten Best Cars 1984, and the 2001 and 2002 Best Sports Coupe fromturbations.com.

This car was even more loved when it was included in the world rally (WRC). Down with Celica-GT Four in Group A regulations from 1988 to 1997, Celica contributed two constructors' world titles for Toyota and four titles for riders, namely Carlos Sainz in 1990 and 1992, Juha Kankkunen in 1993, and Didier Auriol in 1994 season.
