Viktor Axelsen Withdraws From Indonesia Open 2024
JAKARTA The world number one men's singles, Viktor Axelsen, has withdrawn from the Indonesia Open 2024 due to unsuitable physical conditions.
The Danish badminton player announced his withdrawal from the BWF Super 1000 level tournament via social media Twitter on Monday, June 3, 2024, evening WIB.
"Hi friends. I've tried my best to get ready to play at the Indonesia Open 2024, but unfortunately I'm not fit to play," he wrote.
Axelsen had a problem with his right ankle when he appeared in the second round of the 2024 Singapore Open last week. The injury then worsened in the semifinals.

Axelsen's resignation automatically means that the men's singles will get a new champion at the Indonesia Open 2024. The reason is, he is the champion in the last three years at the Indonesia Open 2024.
"I will miss playing in Jakarta. I promise to be back soon," continued the 30-year-old badminton player statement.
The Indonesia Open 2024 will start on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, until Sunday, June 9, 2024. Athletes from 22 countries take part in this event.
