The RI-Malaysia Pamtas Task Force Failed To Smuggle 21.2 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine

The RI-Malaysia Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) for the western sector of Yonarmed 16/Tk in Semunying Jaya Village, Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency, thwarted an attempt to smuggle around 21.2 kilograms of methamphetamine.

"This smuggling attempt was successfully thwarted by the West Yonarmed 16/Tk West Sector Pamtas RI-Malaysia Task Force in Semunying Jaya Village, Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency," Korem Commander (Danrem) 121/Abw, Brigadier General Luqman Arief reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 3.

Brigadier General Luqman Arief, who also acts as Commander of the Operations Implementation Command (Dankolakops) of the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-Malaysia, explained that Danpos Kumba Semunying received information from residents of Pareh Hamlet regarding suspicious activities of a resident with the initials J who often came in and out of Malaysia.

"It is suspected that the resident smuggled methamphetamine from Malaysia into Indonesia," he said.

Based on community reports, Danpos gathered information related to the characteristics of the perpetrators and the rat tracks that might be used for the smuggling of these goods, then Danpos Semunying ordered his members to carry out an ambush (ambush).

"Danpos deployed nine members to carry out ambushes at three rat lane points that the perpetrators may have passed," said Luqman.

During the ambush operation, he said, Team 3 led by Wadanpos found a suspicious white Sigraber car. The car contained four people identified by the team 1 led by Danpos First Lieutenant Arm Sutono immediately ordered team 3 to secure and examine the perpetrators.

As a result, five people, consisting of three Indonesian citizens and two Malaysian foreigners, were suspected of carrying methamphetamine drugs on Thursday (30/5) night.

He mentioned the identities of the two perpetrators who came from Malaysia, namely DD (26) from Bau, Serawak, and RN (34) from Senadin Jaya, Miri. While the three perpetrators from Indonesia are JK (35) and BD (45), both are residents of Mayak Village, Sewide, and SP (42) from Menjalin, Landak.

"After checking luggage and conducting a brief interrogation, 20 packages of methamphetamine were found in a package of the Guanyinwang brand. In the release that we delivered last Friday, it was known that the number was around 25 kilograms, at which time our members were in the field using sugar scales, so the accuracy was invalid. And after the TNI headquarters, we reconsidered using digital scales, it turned out that they weighed 21.2 kilograms, but the number of packages remained the same as during the arrest, so no evidence was lost," he said.
