3 Specialists Of Luxury Car Mirror Thieves Arrested By Police, One Person Shot

Police have arrested three specialists in theft of luxury car mirrors that are often circulating in North Jakarta. The Head of the Pademangan Police, Kompol Binsar Hatorangan Sianturi, said the perpetrators with the initials RY (23), IP (23) and AY (20), were arrested on Jalan Ampera II, West Pademangan, Tuesday, May 28.

"We arrested three people, namely RY, AY and IP," Binsar told reporters at the Pademangan Police, Friday, May 31.

Binsar explained that the arrests were made after the perpetrators carried out their actions on Jalan Ampera II, West Pademangan, Pademangan, Monday, May 13, at 23.00 WIB.

The perpetrators rode on motorbikes looking for targets for luxury cars. Arriving at the scene, they shared roles, ranging from executors to monitoring the local environment.

"This RY attracts the rearview mirror of the car, then IP as a jockey as well as the owner of the motorbike, then AY who sits in the middle to monitor the surroundings," he said.

Furthermore, RY entered the house by climbing the fence. After that stole the Land Cruiser car mirror by breaking it.

The action was caught on CCTV until it finally went viral on social media. The police who received the information immediately carried out an investigation until they finally arrested the perpetrator in the Ampera area, Pademangan, North Jakarta.

"When we were arrested, we took decisive action against the three suspects because we tried to fight back when we asked to show the points where they committed the crime," he said.

Based on the results of the examination, the 3 perpetrators have carried out their actions dozens of times. They set a target in one week of theft.

Their confessions throughout 2024 have been 9 points, which they managed to do. And they are targeting in 1 week at least once. 6 in Pademangan, 1 in Kemayoran, 1 in Priok Areas, and 1 in the Kedoya area, West Jakarta. (The target is) Toyota Fortuner to Landcruiser," he said.

For their actions, the three perpetrators were named suspects. They were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with 5 years in prison.
