PSSI Sets High Target In ASEAN Cup U-16 2024
JAKARTA - The U-16 Indonesian national team will participate in the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup or the U-16 ASEAN Cup which will run from June to July 2024. PSSI sets the highest target for Garuda Muda.
The AFF U-16 Cup will run from June 21 to July 4, 2024. Indonesia as the host and the defending champion status. The Manahan Stadium and Sriwedari Stadium will be tournament venues.
After the draw was carried out on Thursday, May 30, 2024, the U-16 Indonesian national team was in Group A with Laos, the Philippines, and Singapore.
PSSI through the Executive Committee Member, Muhammad, said that he did not hesitate to set the highest target because the group phase was fairly easy.

"We will definitely set the highest target," said Muhammad after the draw process in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
"We'll see (the results of the draw) are grateful, yes, thank God. We got a pretty good draw. We also saw from the previous AFF U-16 Cup, we were the hosts and coincidentally we also won in 2022. Hopefully this year we can also win again," he said.
Previously, the U-16 Indonesian national team had indeed won this age group competition status. Precisely in 2022 when it was under the tutelage of the Milky Way coach.
In the final which was held in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Indonesia defeated Vietnam with a score of 1-0.
In this edition, the U-16 Indonesian national team is under the care of Nova Arianto. As preparation for the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup, the squad is currently undergoing a training camp (TC) in Yogyakarta.
The U-16 Indonesian national team has held a test match against PSS Sleman U-16 at YIS Field, Monjali, Yogyakarta, on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
As a result, Garuda Muda won a landslide with a score of 5-1 in a match played in three rounds with each duration of 30 minutes.
