Members Of The House Of Representatives Support UN Women Encourage Peace In Gaza

JAKARTA - Member of House of Representatives Commission I Nurul Arifin supports the United Nations' efforts for gender equality and women's empowerment (UN Women), in encouraging peace in Gaza, Palestine.

"In conflicts such as in Gaza, women and children have always been the main victims. UN Women's efforts to provide assistance are crucial and should be appreciated," he said, Wednesday, May 29.

He said the importance of international attention to end the suffering experienced by women and children in the conflict area.

Meanwhile, Indonesia is fully committed to supporting peace in Gaza through diplomacy and humanitarian assistance.

"As part of the international community, we must stop all forms of violence and ensure human rights are respected. Indonesia will continue to push for peaceful solutions through dialogue and international cooperation," he stressed.

He also emphasized the importance of protecting civilians according to international law. In addition, psychosocial support for women and children affected by the war and the expansion of economic empowerment programs will be the main focus to help them rebuild life.

"The latest data shows that more than 10 thousand Palestinian women in Rafah died as a result of the attack that took place since October 2023," he said.

He also called for support from friendly countries and international organizations to work together to put pressure on the conflict to end soon and humanitarian aid could enter Gaza without a hitch.

"Our role is very important in this effort. Let's work together to create a more peaceful and fair world, where everyone, without exception, can live safely and with dignity," he hoped.
