Discussing The Nation's Problems In Cikeas, Bamsoet Expressed SBY's Concern About The Expensive Election Fee

JAKARTA - MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo revealed the discussion of the MPR leadership meeting with the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Cikeas, Bogor. Bamsoet explained that the leadership of the MPR together with SBY discussed many national and state issues.

"The point is that the MPR reports to Mr. SBY the things we have done, not yet and what we are currently preparing and we will recommend to the upcoming MPR as well as to the upcoming Government," said Bamsoet, Wednesday, May 29.

Bamsoet said that the national gathering on Tuesday, May 28, was the beginning of his duties as the leader of the MPR to ask for input from the nation's leaders.

"The point is from his evaluation, it is important for us to have a roadmap or steering star, so that the continuity of development from one and another goes well," he said.

Bamsoet then expressed SBY's concern about democracy which was considered to be increasingly damaging to the moral joints of society. Such as very high election costs.

"He told how he visited directly in the presidential election, yesterday's legislative election, the 86 regencies/cities and saw for himself the condition of our people," he said.

"The good news is that people are aware of politics, no longer question about religion, ideology, race. But the badnews are high-cost, the piro number is wani piro. This is what we need to evaluate," continued Bamsoet.

In addition, continued Bamsoet, SBY also advised that amendments to the 1945 Constitution must be in accordance with the needs of the nation and benefit the people. Then ask the MPR to review the implementation of direct or indirect elections.
