The Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office Detains 2 Corruption Suspects For The Construction Of Flood Polder
TANJUNGPINANG - Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office has detained two suspects in the alleged corruption case of the flood control polder construction project on Jalan Pemuda, Bukit Bestari District, Tanjungpinang City.
Head of the Legal Information Section of the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office (Kepri) Denny Anteng Prakoso said two suspects with the initialsPS as Commitment Making Officer (PPK) and KAselaku Director of PT Belimbing Sriwijaya.
"Today, we handed over the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor of the Tanjungpinang Kejari regarding the alleged corruption in the construction of flood control polders by the implementation of PT Belimbing Sriwijaya's work in 2021 with a budget ceiling of Rp22.2 billion," said Denny.
Denny said the detention of the suspect PS was based on the Detention Order of the Head of the Tanjungpinang District Attorney Number: Print-663/L.10.10/Ft.1/05/2024 dated May 28, 2024 and the detention of the suspectKA based on the Detention Order of the Head of the Tanjungpinang District Attorney Number: Print-661/L.10.10/Ft.1/05/2024 dated May 28, 2024.
"Both of them will be detained for the next 20 days starting from May 28 to June 16, 2024 at the Class I Tanjungpinang Detention Center," he said.
The detention action carried out by the Public Prosecutor's team refers to Article 21 paragraphs (1) and (4) of the Criminal Procedure Code with consideration of subjective conditions for the suspect's concern of escaping, eliminating evidence and it is feared that he will repeat the crime, and objectively commit a crime that is punishable by imprisonment for five years or more.
In addition, continued Denny, based on legal facts referring to Article 184 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code, evidence has been obtained in the form of witnesses, letters, instructions, and statements of suspects.

For their actions, the suspects PS and KA are suspected of violating the primary Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, subsidiary to Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
The defendant's actions allegedly caused state financial losses of Rp931 million based on the audit report on the calculation of state financial losses from the Riau Islands Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
"The state losses have been fully returned, but do not abolish the criminal element, as regulated in the Anti-Corruption Law," he asserted.
