Range Rover Sport Will Be Built In India, Price Could Drop

JAKARTA - Jaguar Land Rover announced that it will assemble the flagship Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), namely Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, locally in India, which will lower the price of the car.

Quoting from India's Autocar page, Monday, May 27, India is a country outside the UK that produces the two SUVs locally, and will join other ranks of models such as Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-Face and Discovery Sport which have been produced at JLR facilities in Pune.

In addition to price drops as mentioned above, the local assembly of this one car will also reduce the waiting time for this SUV which was previously still imported intact. Of course, it is interesting for those who plan to propose this one car.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not detailed the list of prices for this one car that will be assembled locally, but it is confirmed that it is a variant of 3.0 l diesel HSE Long wheelbase (LWB), and 3.0 gasoline.

Meanwhile, the short wheelbase (SWB) variant will still be fully imported, as well as the 4.4 liter V8 engine variant. This means that not all variants are assembled locally.

The local homemade Range Rover will be offered with two choices of engines, first the 3.0 liter cylinder six-cylinder gasoline engine which produces 392hp and 550Nm of power, and six-cylinder diesel 3.0 liters of 345hp and 700Nm of power.

"India has experienced stable and extraordinary economic growth over the past few years, and is expected to resume this trajectory in the near future," JLR Chief Commercial Officer Lennard Hoornik said, quoted from the Carscroops page.

He further emphasized that despite being assembled in India, British designs that should be imitated remain distinctive and will continue to define aesthetic Goods and technological sophistication that are synonymous with the Range Rover brand.
