BMW Concept Skytop Will Be Produced In Limited Number

JAKARTA - BMW Concept Skytop, the M8 Cabrio Competition-based roadster on its Villa d'Este Concourse on May 24, amazed all visitors by displaying style and packaging previews for a luxury two-seater GT that resembles the legendary Z8.

The Villa d'Este Concourses event itself is an annual celebration on the shores of Lake Como Italia featuring some of the most luxurious and most flamboyant cars ever made and has existed since 1929.

Launching Autonews, May 27, the latest news on this concept may be produced in a limited number between 20 and 25 units and marketed starting in 2026, according to the company's head of design.

The classical concept with a modern touch

BMW has revived the spirit of the modern Z8 roadster launched in 1998 and the classic 2+2 503 coup launched in 1956 via Concept Skytop.

This luxurious open-top car, which is equipped with a removable roadtop and an integrated roll bar, is described as a one-off design but looks almost ready for production. Previously, BMW stated that this car could potentially be mass produced if it received positive reception.

The BMW Concept Skytop is a unique and exotic design. The car offers a combination of dynamics andACTS at the highest level, comparable to its predecessor, such as BMW Z8 or BMW 503, "said BMW chief design Adrian van HooydINK on Autocar a few days ago during his introduction.

This spirit is reflected in the design of the Concept Skytop, which mimics the proportion of the classic BMW grand tourer, with a long engine hood, a cabin far behind the long wheelbase, and a downward sloping trunk at the back.

Despite carrying a tradition in its shape, most of these two-seater designs are deeply rooted in today's times, such as smooth surfaces, elegant lines, advanced lighting, highlight aluminum brushed and overall details.

In contrast to the electrification trend, BMW's latest concept uses a machine that the company calls it the "the most powerful V8 engine in the BMW drivetrain portfolio" which is, a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged unit that powers the most powerful M car and produces up to 617 dk in its most powerful version.
