PBVSI Bina Pemain Muda Di AVC Challenge Cup 2024

JAKARTA The All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) utilizes the AVC Challenge Cup for Women 2024 to nurture young players for regeneration.

The national volleyball parent has dispatched 11 young players to the event which took place in the Philippines from 22-29 May 2024.

The general chairman of PBVSI, Imam Sudjarwo, said that the target of this event was to provide experience to young players so that they could continue the relay of senior players.

"So, the first is we prioritize training. We want a second layer to be able to replace the seniors," said Imam.

At the initial announcement by PBVSI, the squad that was about to be appointed to the event were the ranks of senior players of the Indonesian Volleyball Team.

At that time there were a total of 14 names, including Megawati Hanggetri Pertiwi, Wilda Siti Nurfadila, Shella Bernadeth Onnan, and Agustin Wulandhari.

However, in the actual list, only 11 names were sent. Two names from the previous list lasted, while the other nine were new names from young players.

The delay in information from AVC is one of the triggers for changing the player's list. In addition, the ongoing 2024 Proliga competition has clubs objected to releasing their players.

Imam explained that despite this problem, young players really need to be given a stage so that in the future Indonesia's achievements will be better.

"This is in the context of increasing our achievements by replacing seniors. We are looking for something good from these young potentials. That is a series of trainings from PBVSI," he said.

Pedro Lilipaly's squad departs for the Philippines in two stages. The first phase departs on Monday, May 20, 2024, while the second stage is on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

The Indonesian Volleyball Team will start the struggle from Group B with Vietnam, Singapore, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong. Last year, the Red-White Team was runner-up at the AVC Challenge Cup.
