Volkswagen ID.4 Is Again Affected By Recalls, This Is The Problem

JAKARTA - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has started a recall request for Volkswagen (VW) of around 51,500 units in the United States (US).

Reuters reported on Tuesday, May 21, the start of the recall program was due to concerns about open vehicle doors while driving. The agency said that it had received at least 12 complaints regarding the production ID.4 model between 2021 and 2023.

Some vehicle owners report that the vehicle's doors are open at any time while driving without being detected naturally. Although there are no reports of casualties or injuries, of course this could endanger the lives of car owners or other road users.

According to NHTSA, the vehicle affected by the recall was also part of the previous withdrawal caused by the seepage of water from the door.

Previously, at the end of 2023, this German manufacturer withdrew 23,883 ID.4 units in 2023-2024 in Uncle Sam's country due to the problem of sheltering the sun that was unable to withstand the heat.

Actually, this issue is known to VW for the first time in May 2023, and has contacted its main supplier, Automotive Mexico Body Systems, to ascertain the problem.
