Nurul Ghufron Should Have A Shame And Not Fight The KPK Council
JAKARTA - Indonesia Calling (IM) 57+ Institute said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron should admit his mistake and be ashamed.
He should not have fought the KPK Supervisory Board, which is currently processing the alleged ethical violations he committed because he helped the mutation of an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
This was conveyed by the Chairman of the IM 57+ Institute, M Praswad Nugraha in response to various efforts made by Ghufron to fight the KPK Council, including through a lawsuit by the State Administrative Court (PTUN) and a report to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
"Nurul Ghufron should have a sense of shame to admit his mistakes and even resign from the KPK leadership instead of looking for thousands of ways to qualify just to maintain his position," said Praswad in a written statement, Tuesday, May 21.
"Ghufron should be aware of prioritizing ethics as the head of the anti-corruption commission," continued Praswad. "How can the KPK encourage ethical compliance when the institution is still led by problematic parties," he said.
Furthermore, Praswad asked the KPK Supervisory Board to continue to investigate the alleged violations committed by Ghufron. They should not be influenced by the interim decision that has been read out by the Administrative Court.
The process and decision of the KPK Supervisory Board are decisions that in their submission are protected by the KPK Law because they are engaged in a different ethical plan from the PTUN realm. For this reason, the KPK Council should not hesitate in carrying out the function of breaking ethics because it is based on the current KPK Law," explained the former KPK employee.
"You can imagine how dangerous it will be when in the future various parties who are applied for ethics in a mechanism that has been rigidly regulated at the level of the law are prevented from taking effect with orders from courts that try State Administration," continued Praswad.
As previously reported, the Supervisory Board will decide the fate of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, who is suspected of having committed an ethical violation for assisting the transfer of employees of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) on Tuesday, May 21.
"Tomorrow at 14.00 WIB, the KPK Council's ethical decision," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, May 20.
However, the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) ordered the KPK Supervisory Board to postpone the ethical examination of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, in an interim decision today, Monday, May 20.
