The Singapore Container Ship That Transported On The Collapse Of The Baltimore Bridge After Crashing Was Evacuated Today
JAKARTA - The Singapore-flagged container ship, M/V Dali, which triggered the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, United States (US), was finally evacuated.
Citing NBC News, Monday, May 20, M/V Dali has been perched for 8 weeks on the Baltimore bridge since hitting him on March 26. The cargo ship was dragged to a nearby port with complicated procedures.
The head of the joint evacuation team consisting of a number of local and federal SAR agencies said the transfer process would take place at 02.00 local time to be finalized when the tide was high at 05.24.
The refloat and transit sequences are deliberately designed to ensure that all SAR personnel around M/V Dali can control the ship, ranging from reflectloat, transit to, and dock at the local sea terminal, "said the head of the team, Sunday, May 19.
According to the head of the team, the evacuation plan has been made by the engineers involved.
The process started from the inspection of the ship, releasing several anchors and moorings that were still attached to M/V Dali, then removing a weight in the form of 1.25 million gallons of water pumped into the ship to keep the weight stable above the water.
In fact, these engineers have implemented a maximum security limit for the M/V Dali rate when advancing to open waters.
A total of five ships will escort M/V Dali who will travel at a speed of 1 mph up to two and a half miles to the nearest port.
